With this simple life hack, you can save money on your electricity bills.
Fridges are responsible for about 25% of your electricity bill! Electricity prices are highest during the day, which happens to be when fridges are opened and shut most of the time and thus use most of their electricity.
What if you could shift the fridges energy usage to the middle of the night, when electricity is inexpensive? Well you can! Simply freeze a 10 litre plastic bottle of water in the freezer in the middle of the night. In the morning, transfer this 10 kg block of ice to the bottom of the fridge.
This ice will keep the fridge cool all day, limiting how much electricity the fridge uses. At night, transfer the bottle back to the freezer to refreeze!
I estimate you should be able to reduce the cost of your electricity bill by at least 10% using this method.
