The reality is that an LMS is simply a type of eLearning platform or eLearning system. And both a learning management system and an eLearning platform both fall into the second pillar of eLearning – eLearning technology.

Remember back in elementary school when you learned that every square is a type of rectangle, but not every rectangle is a square?

Well, this applies to LMSs and eLearning platforms/systems. Every LMS is an eLearning platform, but not every eLearning platform is an LMS.
