How I applied at Miro for a Director of Product Role

How I applied at Miro for a Director of Product Role

The challenge was summarized: “How to get from 3mio weekly active users to 25mio weekly active users in 4 years with the Whiteboard. ”

The tl,dr here is to prove that you spent a couple of minutes researching the market and why you picked it:

1. For Miro, for instance, it matters whether you look at “Collaboration” as an overall Market or whether you focus on “Whiteboarding,” which is a submarket of that. Takes you a couple of minutes to learn that.

2. Do a quick sweep of who you believe are the most important competitors, name them.

3. Make Assumptions on ICPs for Miro, in a product-led business do it on Use Case rather than firmographics. The more Sales-led the more you focus on firmographics like company size, buyer persona, etc. (Which is something I failed to recognize in my case)

4. Define and give actual examples of levers that you could improve and how they would land on an example in your product teams, along with Key Results. One or two examples are enough.

5. It’s optional but I love drawing up how what I assume to be doing connects to the revenue in an altitude map (visible in the full video). It shows that you thought about how things work within each other.

6. Keep it simple and make/declare assumptions on the way.

I don’t think we share enough about what these processes and exercises look like and how we approach them, so here you go.
