Day 48 of Japanese House Renovation: No More Hole in the Wall #japanesehouse #diy #diyrenovation

Today was a national holiday here in Japan, so my wife and daughter joined me at the house. Although their presence was enjoyable, it inevitably led to some distractions, particularly with my three-year-old daughter’s eagerness to assist.
Despite these distractions, I managed to accomplish a few tasks. I replaced the HDMI cable in the entertainment room, as the previous one didn’t work. Additionally, I completed the process of closing the opening between the future dining room and the hallway near the washroom.

In the dining room and kitchen, I continued installing drywall, making progress toward completing the walls. However, I encountered a challenge with the wall behind the kitchen cabinets. I believe it will be necessary to reinforce the wall with additional studs to provide a secure anchor for the cabinet rails.

今日は祝日だったので、妻と娘が家にいました。一緒にいるのは楽しいですが、3歳の娘が手伝いたがるので気を散らされます。それでも、エンターテイメントルームのHDMIケーブルを交換し、ダイニングルームと廊下の間の開口部を埋めました。ダイニングルームとキッチンに石膏ボードを取り付けました。キッチンキャビネットの後ろの壁には補強が必要だと思われます。

Idag var det en helgdag i Japan, så jag hade min fru och dotter med mig. Även om det är roligt att ha dem där blir det lite av en distraktion (oavsett hur mycket min 3-åring vill hjälpa mig).

Men jag fick faktiskt något gjort.
Jag installerade den nya HDMI-kabeln i underhållningsrummet, eftersom den första inte fungerade.
Sedan fortsatte jag med att täppa till öppningen vi hade mellan det framtida matsalen och hallen (nära tvättstället).
Jag gick sedan vidare med att installera lite mer gipsskivor i matsalen och köket.
Jag är lite osäker på hur jag ska gå vidare med väggen bakom köksluckorna. Jag tror att jag måste förstärka väggen med nya reglar för att förankra skenorna för skåpen.
