As you may or may not know, our home was built in 1911‼️

We’re first time homeowners #and this was probably the biggest FAIL yet.
We got home after new years in early January of 2023 and I smelled manure 💩 coming from basement, and much to my dismay I walked downstairs to see the furnace / storage room pooling BROWN water in the middle. 🤢

We’re so lucky that 1) it didn’t touch the new studio we built from scratch last summer, cause it’s where we work and 2) that the smelly water didn’t actually “flood” any of our belongings.
Aside from that – we definitely weren’t so lucky, lol.

We hired our contractor neighbors to dig up the pipes and do the hard part cause we didn’t even know where to start but essentially most of the floors downstairs had to be COMPLETELY dug up as you can see.

My uncle loves to build his homes so he offered to come and help us 🙏🏻 so we fixed up the basement bit by bit over the summer and up until now! Now the floors are even nicer than they were before.

We decided to take the opportunity to make one room down there bigger and put in a couple of new walls. We also added a really nice shower to the powder room while we were down there and made part of the space into a mini- apartment / suite.
